Watershed Organisation Trust is pleased to share a case study of 'Sattechiwadi' included as one of the best practices published in the Ministry of Environment and Forest, GOI National Report 2012 submitted to UNCCD. It gives an account of the activities implemented in Sattechiwadi (a hamlet of Hivargaon) Maharashtra and how specific land degradation problems were addressed.
WOTR receives the FICCI Water Award – 2013
WOTR was awarded 2nd prize in the category “Water Initiatives by NGOs” on the 6th of August 2013 by FICCI in their Annual Water Awards instituted in association with HSBC. The award was presented by Mr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Government of India and Ms. Naina Lal Kidwai, President, FICCI.
FICCI, in association with HSBC, instituted the annual Water Awards, under the auspices of FICCI’s Water Mission wherein 10 companies are awarded. This year a fourth category was introduced, Water Initiative by NGOs, to the existing three categories of Industrial Water Efficiency, Community Initiatives by Industry and Innovation in Water Technology.
The entries received depicted the wide range of initiatives Indian companies and civil society organizations are taking up to conserve water resources ranging from integrated watershed management, rainwater harvesting, wastewater treatment, water audits, technology modification for reduction in freshwater consumption and reuse of wastewater.
