WOTR is recognised widely as a premier institution in the field of participatory watershed development. Its unique strength lies in its ‘on-field’ experience and in the systemic approach to the watershed development process, which primarily is participatory in nature.

Core Competencies:
Management of projects and funds on behalf of donors involving multi-stakeholders from civil society actors, NGOs to government agencies.
- Capacity Building And Institutional Development:
Upgrading the financial, managerial, technical, social, organisational, team building and communication skills of developmental agencies and primary stakeholders through development of tailor-made, systems-based and outcome-oriented pedagogies, with hand-holding and on-site accompaniment.
WOTR has developed a comprehensive methodology for data basing, information and process mapping at various points in a project cycle with a view to uncovering trends, resource flows, relationship shifts, social dynamics and events. This enables timely and appropriate interventions so that project goals and objects are realized.
WOTR’s IT Department has developed a range of specialised software for project application. This greatly facilitates the management of information at different levels, from field to large-scale and multi-program management.
- Software Requirement Specification (SRS): Development of Software Requirement Specification based on client’s requirement.
- Software Design and Development: Customized software developed for NGOs, donor agencies, government departments or as per client’s need.
- Project planning and formulation for integrated watershed development, in which Participatory Net Planning (PNP) as a module is embedded.
- Management Information System for analysis of socio-economic data, technical and financial plans for watershed management and Muster Analysis which provides complete details of financial and physical progress, tools for planning, follow-up and evaluation of work. These software programs are used by all NGOs in the IGWDP, Maharashtra.
- Decision Support System for Andhra Pradesh Rural Livelihood Project (APRLP).
- Management Information System for Indo-Swiss Participative Watershed Development Programme – Karnataka (ISPWDK).
- Ahmednagar Watershed Regulation and Evaluation (AWARE): A Management Information System for Department of Agriculture, Government of Maharashtra.
- Development Communication:
Audio, video and photographic documentation of the processes and project works, as well as preparation of thematic documentaries.
Project design, proposal formulation, feasibility studies and project proposal preparation as also supervision, monitoring, review and evaluation studies. Services are provided for all of the above competencies and thematic areas.
