WOTR has brought different innovative ideas
and developed strategies for participatory watershed
development based upon its years of experience.
Participatory
Operational Pedagory (POP)
It is a 24-step strategy developed through years of
experience, which progressively builds up the capacities of
VSHGs and their accompanying NGOs to implement
participatory watershed development along participatory,
efficient and effective lines.
Gender
Oriented POP
This is a multifaceted strategy for the effective and
progressive involvement of women of watershed villages in family
and village life. It is a consensus-oriented approach
which seeks to actively involve men in the development and
enablement of their womenfolk.
Portfolio
Management
That defines and describes different responsibilities and
tasks for members of the Village Watershed Committee (VWC).
It is based on the premise that authority without responsibility
and vice-versa is meaningless.
Participatory
Net-Planning (PNP)
PNP is a method adopted by WOTR to provide the concerned
farmer couple an active role in the planning and implementation
of water and soil conservation practices to be implemented in
their field. It is site-specific and farmer-friendly. It
ensures greater participation and ownership of measures planned
and implemented. PNP helps in adopting sustainable
traditional practices of land and water management.
Qualitative
Assessment Matrix (QAM)
This is a participatory monitoring and grading system of the
performance of the watershed work, the community and the NGO, so
as to provide feedback at regular intervals for improvement.
This is used by WOTR, NGOs and VWCs. |
