Any
intervention in natural resource regeneration and management in
rural areas has to address the concerns of women, since the
regenerated resources respond to the immediate household needs
such as water, fuel, fodder and food. Hence the involvement of
women requires special attention.
WOTR focuses on promoting the
active involvement of women in community affairs, increasing
their socio-economic well-being and their status in society.
This
is being done through formation of SHGs and also includes
activities aimed at reducing their drudgery and enhancing their
economic status.
A
systematic Gender-Oriented Participatory Operational Pedagogy
(GO-POP) has been developed to facilitate this process.
