WOTR is looking for suitable candidates for the following posts:

Program Manager – Climate Change Adaptation Program

Candidates with a strong background and record of international development and of publication related to Climate Change Adaptation in developing regions with 7 - 10 years of experience in managing large-scale, upscalable projects are invited to send their applications.

The candidate will be required to lead and manage the implementation of WOTR Climate Change Adaptation Program in 3 – 5 locations within Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. It will include contributing to the strategic planning and management of the program; managing multidisciplinary teams and establishing and building partnerships in the Climate Change and the Environmental Economics domain; communicating research and research results to different audiences linking research results to policy in developing regions; and managing the direct implementation of the project; reporting to the donors.

Candidates will require to have:
•  At least 7-10 years previous experience in managing large-scale projects
•  Strong knowledge of Climate Change and Adaptation issues in rural and backward and environmentally degraded regions
•  Understanding of major research trends in the Environmental Economics domain
•  Knowledge of working relationships with partners from the public and private sectors
•  Understanding of policy research methods and approaches
•  Leadership : to champion change and integrate it with a positive outlook and stamina
•  Strategic Agility : professionally represent the Organisation while managing international and national partnerships
•  Expertise : to contribute to the further development of the Climate Change and Environmental Economics research field
•  Engagement : to create a sense of direction and purpose for team members which inspires, motivates and guides toward vision of the organization, of the regional centres and of the team
•  Management : able to optimize staff capacities through clear performance expectations, supportive monitoring, ongoing feedback, and adaptive coaching
•  Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to synthesize and adapt information to a variety of groups within and outside WOTR.

Senior Researchers

WOTR is seeking Senior Researchers with a background in Environmental Sciences and/or Environmental Economics and/or Agri Economics with a strong understanding of the Policy environment to lead the Research component of WOTR’s Climate Change Adaptation Program.

Candidates with a Ph.D. in these subjects and a prior experience of at least 3-5 years of carrying out research are invited to apply for these positions.

The persons will be working on Climate Change Adaptation Program at WOTR, and will provide back-end research support. S/he will independently conduct both desk and field research and analyse the socio-economic ramifications of adaptation issues related to climate change. This is will involve designing and planning the research, analysing the emergent findings, and corroborating it with existing and available literature, reviewing policies, documenting and compiling reports and papers to help develop adaptation strategies for implementation at the ground and also develop thinking and guidelines for policy requirements at State and National level.
The tasks will also involve networking with the various stakeholders involved in Climate Change Adaptation and create an environment for dialogue between them.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Research Assistants

WOTR is seeking Research Assistants with a background in Environmental Sciences, Agri Economics, Environmental Economics, Sociology to carry out the research and analysis for WOTR’s Climate Change Adaptation Program.

Candidates with a Masters in any of these subjects with a prior experience of at least 2 years are invited to apply for these positions.

The persons will be working on the Climate Change Adaptation Program and will provide support and assistance to the Senior Researchers to design, plan and implement desk and field research. The task will involve designing research tools, training and supporting the field team in gathering data, analysing the data and compiling reports.

Statistician

WOTR is seeking Statisticians who can collect, analyse, interpret, and present the findings to
support the research program.

Tasks will involve:

Adapt statistical methods to suit the requirement of the program and realities in the field; analyze and interpret statistical data in order to identify significant differences in relationships among sources of information; design methods that apply valid scientific techniques and utilize information obtained from baselines or historical data in order to structure uncompromised and efficient analyses; develop and test experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods that are best suited to the research at hand; Evaluate sources of information in order to determine any limitations in terms of reliability or usability and statistical methods and procedures used to obtain data in order to ensure validity, applicability, efficiency, and accuracy; plan data collection methods for specific projects, and determine the types and sizes of sample groups to be used; process large amounts of data for statistical modeling and graphic analysis; prepare data for processing by organizing information, checking for any inaccuracies, and adjusting and weighting the raw data; supervise and provide instructions for field teams collecting and tabulating data; report results of statistical analyses, including information in the form of graphs, charts, and tables.
