6. Renewable Energy for Rural Development Initially the RE project was implemented in 3 villages from 3 different regions with different socio-economic conditions for demonstration purpose

Base on the success of these model villages WOTR has expanded this project in 5 districts of Maharashtra.

RE unit of WOTR has electrified using solar home lighting systems -
- 373 households in WOTR project villages &
- 410 households in Sampada project villages

School Environment and Sanitation Project

 

- Toilet and drinking water 
   system in 103 schools.

   watersheds of 66 schools
   (over 4000 children)
-  Follow-up program regarding sanitation, health and environment in 61 schools.

15.

The School for Sustainable Living and Livelihoods

- WOTR has started the School for Sustainable Living and Livelihoods in which 47 candidates (experienced PLS) selected from 7 rural district of Maharashtra
 

16. Community Managed Rural Tourism - 2 WOTR project clusters
- 12-14 village youth, which are trained as tourist guides
17. Insurance (Implemented through Sampada Trust - A Sister Organisation) - During April - Sept.07 a total of 16,223 women are insured under different scheme.
18. Micro-Enterprise (Implemented through Sampada Trust - A Sister Organisation) Provided financial and managerial inputs in SHGs for undertaking about 1427 startup activities (891 on-farm and 536 off-farm) income generating activities and micro-enterprises
  • Anchor Organisation of Lead Advocacy Network (LAN), India    project involving 6 NGOs from 6 states  namely Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat , Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. 

  • Co-founder and the Asia representative of the International Rainwater Harvesting Alliance (IRHA), Geneva .
