Watershed & Ecosystems Development is one of the key areas to build resilience of Ecosystems and help local communities adapt.  Participatory Watershed Development has long been recognized as effective tool to combat drought and alleviate poverty. Realizing its importance, both the Central Govt. as well as governments of individual states have various ongoing large-scale Watershed programs like the DPAP, WRF, etc.  At the same time, bilateral and private funding organizations too are sponsoring numerous watershed development and Climate Change Adaptation programs  all over the country. An exposure to the ground realities existing in the villages and an understanding of the impact of policies and decisions on the lives of the villagers would go a long way in ensuring meaningful policies and better implementation of watershed development projects.
